Oklahoma City Comets News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Dodgers wrap up a three-game series tonight against the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7:05 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark before closing out the month of July with the second ¡Celebración Cielo Azul! of the season Friday through Monday.
The Dodgers and Isotopes meet at 7:05 p.m. tonight on a $2 Thursday, featuring $2 Pepsi products, bottled water and select beer.
¡Celebración Cielo Azul! begins Friday when the OKC Dodgers take the field as Cielo Azul de Oklahoma City against Los Chihuahuas de El Paso at 7:05 p.m. A mariachi band will perform throughout the night and fireworks, presented by Supermercados Morelos, are scheduled to follow the game.
Oklahoma City was one of 33 Minor League Baseball teams invited to participate in MiLB's "Es Divertido Ser Un Fan" ("It's Fun to Be a Fan®") campaign this season. MiLB® selected nine Pacific Coast League teams to participate and each are donning an alternate, culturally relevant identity for select games during the 2018 season with the aim to attract, engage and celebrate Hispanic and Latino fans in each participating team's city. The Dodgers' first ¡Celebración Cielo Azul! of the season took place May 31-June 3 against Omaha in OKC.
Oklahoma City's Spanish team name Cielo Azul translates to "blue sky." The concept was developed to celebrate the richness and depth of Hispanic and Latino culture in the United States, while also linking the identity to the famous Dodger blue and to the team's home state of Oklahoma, which often boasts vast blue skies.
Cielo Azul is partnering with the Latino Community Development Agency for a special ticket offer during ¡Celebración Cielo Azul! Starting at $15 per ticket, fans will receive a game ticket, Cielo Azul hat, $5 in Dodgers Dollars for use at the concession stands and $1 per ticket will be donated to the LCDA.
In addition to the players and coaches wearing Cielo Azul uniforms on the field, ¡Celebración Cielo Azul! will offer new specialty foods at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, such as a pambazo sandwich, chorizo fries, chorizo sausage, chicharrones nachos, empanadas platter, pinchos, elotes and sopapillas. Latin music and a bilingual environment will enhance the gameday experience for fans.
On Saturday, the Xpogo Stunt Team will perform, presented by Okie 811. The extreme pogo riders will display a thrilling blend of athleticism and entertainment throughout the night.
Folkloric dancers will perform and a silent auction for players' and coaches' game-worn Cielo Azul jerseys will be held during the game to benefit the OKC Dodgers Baseball Foundation and Latino Community Development Agency.
¡Celebración Cielo Azul! continues at 6:05 p.m. on a Chaparral Energy Family Sunday, featuring pregame player autographs, a mascot meet-and-greet, face painters, inflatables and postgame kids run the bases. Folkloric dancers are also scheduled to perform throughout the evening. The four-game set then wraps up at 7:05 p.m. Monday.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday's ¡Celebración Cielo Azul! games against Los Chihuahuas de El Paso will be televised live on YurView on Cox (channel 1333) for all Cox cable subscribers. Each TV broadcast will begin five minutes before first pitch.
Live radio coverage of each game begins 15 minutes before first pitch on AM 1340 "The Game," 1340thegame.com, or through the free iHeartRadio mobile app.
OKC Dodgers/Cielo Azul tickets are available through the OKC Dodgers ticket office located on South Mickey Mantle Drive, by phone at (405) 218-2182, or by visiting okcdodgers.com.
