Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake Bees jumped out to an early lead and held on to even up the series with the Memphis Redbirds with a 7-5 win on Wednesday night.

Salt Lake jumped out in front with five runs in the second inning. The frame was highlighted by a three-run blast by Nolan Fontana, his third of the season. Two innings later Joe Hudson smashed a two-run homer of his own to put the Bees up 7-1. Memphis responded with a run in the sixth and three in the seventh, but would get no closer as Jeremy Rhoades tossed a flawless eighth and ninth inning for his second save of the year. Fontana would add a triple to his tally and finish two-for-three on the night. Ben Revere also tripled and scored twice as the bottom three batters in the Bees order accounted for six RBIs and five runs scored on the night.

Bees reliever Conor Lillis-White picked up his second win of the year with one and one-third scoreless innings. Salt Lake handed St. Louis Cardinals prospect Dakota Hudson (13-3) his first loss since May as he was pulled from the game in the second inning and had two inherited runners score.

The Bees and Redbirds will play the rubber match of the three-game set on Thursday night with first pitch coming at 7:05. Tickets and more information is available at www.slbees.com.
