Rainiers Swept After 4-2 Loss To Express

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Tacoma Rainiers (51-53) dropped their series finale to the Round Rock Express (51-53) on Thursday night at Dell Diamond.

Left fielder Ian Miller led the Rainiers offense, going 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI - it was his team-leading 25th multi-hit performance of the year. First baseman Cameron Perkins (2x4, 2B) also registered a pair of hits, while third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (1x3, R, 2B, BB) and catcher Cameron Rupp (0x2, 2 BB) both reached base twice.

Rainiers starting pitcher Rob Whalen did not factor into the decision while allowing two runs on five hits over five innings of work. He walked two and struck out five on 91 pitches (55 strikes).

Ryan Garton (1.0 IP) and Nick Rumbelow (1.0 IP) both worked scoreless innings in relief of Whalen - Rumbelow struck out two, while the duo allowed just one hit. Shawn Armstrong (1-4) took the loss after allowing two runs on three hits in the bottom of the eighth.

The Rainiers road trip continues on Friday night with a 5:00 p.m. PT game against the New Orleans Baby Cakes. Tacoma right-hander Bryan Evans (2-1, 4.95) will get the start opposite New Orleans southpaw Dillon Peters (2-5, 5.91).
