Tacoma Rainiers (13-12) vs. Salt Lake Bees (10-15)

Friday, June 4, 2021 @ 7:05 p.m. PT | Cheney Stadium - Tacoma, WA

RHP Darren McCaughan (1-1, 5.63) vs. RHP Jake Faria (1-1, 6.20)

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Tacoma fought hard to battle back from an early 5-1 deficit and twice came back within a run, but Salt Lake pulled away late and handed the Rainiers a 10-5 loss in their series opener. Starting pitcher Ryan Dull surrendered 3 runs in his one inning of work and left hander Max Roberts allowed 2 runs in the 2nd inning as Salt Lake built an early lead. RHP Vinny Nittoli worked the 8th and 9th innings, giving up 3 runs as the Bees shut the door.

Catcher Cal Raleigh launched his sixth home run of the year just right of the 425-foot-deep batter's eye in center field to extend his current hitting streak to 15 games. 2B Shed Long Jr. hit his 3rd double of his Major League rehab assignment in the 3rd inning and later came around to score on an RBI groundout from Cal Raleigh. Center Fielder Kennie Taylor also notched his first two hits for the Rainiers, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and walk in the contest.

GET YOUR STREAK ON: Tacoma's 12-game home run streak is the longest active streak in the Triple-A West and the club's longest since May 11-25, 2012 (14 games). The Rainiers team record since 2005 is 17 straight games from June 25-July 15, 2010.

R CITY SLUGGERS: Cal Raleigh's deep solo shot Thursday night gave Tacoma home runs in each of their last 12 games. The 30 big flies during that stretch are the most in affiliated pro baseball.

YEEHAW YACABONIS: RHP Jimmy Yacabonis pitched 1.0 scoreless inning on Thursday, his 7th appearance this season with at least 1.0 IP and 0 runs allowed. Among league pitchers with at least 15.0 IP, Yacabonis ranks 2nd in ERA (1.76), T-6th in BB/9 (2.35), and T-6th in WHIP (1.11).

SHARING THE WEALTH: 15 different Tacoma hitters have hit at least 1 home run this season, tied for 2nd most in the league (Reno, 18) and tied for 3rd most in Triple-A (Nashville, 19).

Tuesday marked the 12th game this season that the Rainiers went deep at least twice, and the 10th time in the last 12 contests.

FULL HOUSE: The Rainiers lead all Triple-A clubs with 55 players used through 23 games. The team has used 32 pitchers, including infielder Jantzen Witte, and 24 position players.
