Tacoma Rainiers News Release
SACRAMENTO, CA - The Tacoma Rainiers (30-25) held on to even the series, beating the Sacramento River Cats (32-23) by a score of 5-2, Friday at Sutter Health Park.
A pitcher's duel kept the game scoreless through three innings, but Tacoma struck in the fourth on a ground-rule double from Leo Rivas.
They padded their lead to 4-0 after an RBI single from Luis Urias in the fifth and a two-run single from Jake Slaughter in the sixth.
Sacramento answered with their first run of the game in their half of the sixth, scoring on a double from David Villar. It stayed 4-1 until the ninth, when Michael Chavis grew Tacoma's lead to 5-1 with an RBI double.
Going for the complete game, Casey Lawrence got tagged for a second run in the ninth inning, ending his night. He recorded the longest start of the year for a Rainiers' pitcher, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and five strikeouts over 8.1 innings.
Cody Bolton relieved Lawrence and allowed a hit, but recorded the final two outs to earn his first save of the season.
