Albuquerque Drops Fourth-Straight to Oklahoma City, 14-5

Albuquerque, NM - Oklahoma City jumped out to a commanding 10-3 lead after three innings and cruised the rest of the way to a 14-5 victory over Albuquerque Friday night at Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park.

Topes Scope: - The Isotopes have lost the first four games of a series for the third time this year and second against Oklahoma City (also: April 9-13 vs. Sugar Land and April 23-26 vs. Oklahoma City).

-Albuquerque has lost five-straight games overall (one to Salt Lake and four against Oklahoma City), the third losing streak of at least five games (long: eight, April 5-13).

-The Isotopes have not led over the first four games of a series for the second time this year (also: April 9-13 vs. Sugar Land, five games).

-Albuquerque falls to 3-13 against Oklahoma City on the year. The 13 losses are the most in a season against the Oklahoma City franchise (previous high: 12, 2022) with eight games to go in the 2024.

-The Isotopes allowed three first inning runs in the contest. On the year, they've relented 48-the second-most in all of Minor League Baseball (most: Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 52).

-Oklahoma City has tallied double-digit runs in six of their last 11 contests against the Isotopes.

-Albuquerque hasn't plated six-plus runs in six of their last seven games after tallying at least six tallies in nine of their last 10 contests.

-The Isotopes pitching staff walked nine batters, the sixth time the club has issued nine-plus in a contest.

-Albuquerque allowed nine extra-base hits, the fourth time the Isotopes have yielded nine-plus in a game to Oklahoma City this year.

-The Isotopes were just 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position. For the series, the club is 4-for-35.

-Peyton Battenfield allowed 10 runs over 2.1 frames-tied for the most runs allowed by an Isotopes starter in 2024 (also: Thomas Ponticelli at Oklahoma City, April 7). He also walked four batters, the 12th time an Albuquerque starter issued four-plus free passes in a game

-Sam Hilliard recorded his 22nd multi-hit contest of the year, tying Coco Montes for the team lead. He also recorded an RBI, his first since May 23 at Salt Lake. Is 3-for-21 in his last five games.

-Michael Toglia tallied his eighth multi-hit game of the year and second in his last three games. He also struck out three times, his third game with at least three punchouts. Has a hit in 11 of his last 12 games, slashing .298/.389/.511 with two doubles, one triple, two homers and six walks.

-Aaron Schunk registered his 15th multi-hit game of the year, second-straight and third in his last four contests. Swatted his 17th double of the year. Is 7-for-17 over the first four games of the series. Over his last 11 games, slashing .333/.362/.489 with four doubles, a homer and nine RBI.

-Willie MacIver collected his ninth multi-hit contest of the year, second-straight and third in his last four games. Is 6-for-12 over the span with two doubles and a homer.

-Connor Kaiser drew three walks on the night, tying the team-high for 2024 (three times; last: Jordan Beck, April 27 vs. Oklahoma City).

On Deck: The Isotopes and Oklahoma City meet for game three of the series tomorrow at 6:35 pm from Rio Grande Credit Union Field at Isotopes Park. Albuquerque is expected to start Karl Kauffmann while Oklahoma City is slated to start Ben Casparius.
