Cleburne Railroaders News Release
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones banged out 19 hits and 14 runs to out-slug the Cleburne Railroaders 14-8 on Monday night at T-Bones Stadium.
Kansas City (41-37) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single from Chris Colabello. They then scored three in the third, one in the fifth, and five in the sixth to extend the lead to 10-0. Daniel Nava's three-run home run in the fifth was the big blow.
The Railroaders (47-33) matched their season-high by scoring eight runs in the top of the seventh inning. Angel Reyes got the scoring started with an RBI groundout, then eight consecutive Cleburne hitters reached with two outs. Chase Simpson ripped an RBI triple, then Logan Trowbridge singled him home to make it 10-3. An error loaded the bases, and Grant Buck promptly unloaded them with a two-run single that trimmed the lead to 10-5. After Nick Rotola walked, K.C. Huth bounced a single off the glove of Kansas City second baseman Dylan Tice that scored two more. Daniel Robertson plated the final run of the inning on a fielder's choice grounder when Huth beat the throw to second.
The T-Bones had the answer, however, scoring four of their own in the bottom of the seventh. Shawn O'Malley delivered the crucial swing in the inning, lining a two-out, three-run triple to the gap in right-center.
Charlie Gillies (4-7) took the loss for Cleburne, allowing five runs in five innings. Jon Perrin (5-1) beat Cleburne for the third time, tossing six shutout innings to secure the win. Hunter Smith tossed 2.1 scoreless innings in relief for Kansas City to earn the save.
The Railroaders and T-Bones continue their series on Tuesday night at 7:05 PM. Eudis Idrogo (7-4, 4.57) goes for Cleburne, while Kansas City counters with righty Christian Binford (3-2, 3.00).
