Kansas City Monarchs News Release

KANSAS CITY, KAN. - More than 6,000 fans were on hand to welcome the T-Bones (6-9) back to CommunityAmerica Ballpark Friday night for a date with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (11-4). Starter Jonathan Krysa thanked them with an impressive complete-game pitching performance while the T-Bones hitters showed their gratitude with a six-run eighth inning on their way to a 9-0 win.

Three straight T-Bones were walked in the bottom of the first, but the team was unable to capitalize as Charles Peterson struck out and Eddie Pearson hit into a double play to end the inning.

After falling victim to a double play to end the second inning, the T-Bones went to work in the third. Chad Sosebee found his way to first after being hit with a pitch. The next two T-Bones walked to load the bases. Sosebee scored on a Peterson single to left while Michael Spidale and Doug Dreher came home on a single to right by Eddie Pearson, but the double play was lethal once again as Craig Hurba and Blake Whealy were doubled up to end the third.

While Krysa kept his shutout alive on the mound, Kansas City's bats came to life once again in the eighth inning. The T-Bones plated six runs on four hits, blowing the game wide open and giving the T-Bones a 9-0 edge. Key in the inning were two-run base hits by Brandon Jones, Doug Dreher and Greg Jacobs.

Krysa forced the RedHawks to lay eggs on the scoreboard all night, limiting the guests to just two hits in his nine-inning complete game shut-out, the third of his career. The win moves Krysa into sole possession of third place on the T-Bones career win list with 18. He also moved into sole possession of second on the club's career starts list with 52.

Pearson also moved up in the record books tonight, surpassing Anthony Lewis for third on the T-Bones career hit list with 277. After his 2-for-4 performance tonight, Pearson now has 211 RBIs, which puts him atop the T-Bones career RBI list.

The same two teams will duke it out Saturday night. Brandon Culp (2-1, 3.50) will take the hill for Fargo-Moorhead while Larry Robles (2-1, 3.32) gets the nod for the T-Bones. First pitch is slated for 7:05 at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
