Cleburne Railroaders News Release
CLEBURNE, Texas - The Cleburne Railroaders rallied from a 5-0 deficit to take a 6-5 lead, but saw it slip away as the Kansas City T-Bones seized the series opener by the score of 10-8 on Tuesday night at The Depot.
It was all Kansas City (10-13) in the early going, as the T-Bones got a three-run home run from Ramsey Romano in the top of the third to seize a 3-0 advantage. The lead swelled to 5-0 in the fourth, as Roy Morales grounded a two-run double down the third base line.
Cleburne (12-12) scrapped back into the game with a six-run bottom of the fourth. John Nester got the scoring started with an opposite field, two-run home run that cut the Kansas City lead to 5-2. After a walk and an error put two on, T-Bones starter Henry Owens spiked a wild pitch to score Jonathan Rodriguez, trimming the advantage to 5-3. K.C. Huth made it 5-4 with an RBI groundout, then Nick Rotola tied the game with a bunt single. Zach Nehrir put the Railroaders in front 6-5 with a bloop double into left-center.
The lead did not last long, as Kansas City promptly scored two runs in the top of the fifth without the benefit of a hit, capitalizing on a big throwing error by Braden Pearson (2-1) to move in front 7-6.
The T-Bones scored three more in the sixth, highlighted by a two-run double from Danny Mars to make it a 10-6 game.
The Railroaders did not go quietly, pulling two runs back on a two-run, pinch-hit single from Kenny Meimerstorf that made it 10-8 in the eighth. The combination of Robert Calvano, Eduardo Paredes, and Nick Lee closed it out for Kansas City, however, with Lee coming on for an injured Paredes to record his first save.
Cleburne and Kansas City continue their series on Wednesday night at 7:06 PM. Lefty Eudis Idrogo (1-1, 6.20) gets the ball for the Railroaders, while the T-Bones counter with right-hander Jon Perrin (0-0, 3.75).
