Evansville Otters News Release

The Evansville Otters got to Windy City starter Ryan Dittfurth for seven runs in two-plus innings and coasted to a 11-3 win over the ThunderBolts.

After Windy City scored a run on a homer by Jason Crosland in the first inning, the Otters took advantage of wildness by Dittfurth to score a trio of runs in the second. The big hit of the frame was a bases loaded single by John Coker to score two runs.

Evansville broke the game open in the third with six runs, highlighted by another RBI single by Coker and a double by Steve Martin as the team sent 10 men to the plate, taking a 9-1 lead. The two teams traded a pair of runs in the seventh inning to make the final 11-3.

Meanwhile, Andre Simpson (4-5) was outstanding in the contest, allowing just three hits over six innings, walking two and striking out a career high tying 12 in the contest. Dittfurth (2-6) lasted just two innings for Windy City, allowing four hits and walked five in giving up seven runs taking the loss.

Game two of the series is tomorrow with Chris Pillsbury (4-5) taking the mound for Evansville. He will be opposed by Rick Weber (0-0) for the ThunderBolts. The game can be heard on 91.5, WUEV and will begin at 7:05 p.m.
