
Former Otters recalled by Mariners for second time

For the second time this season, Former Evansville Otters George Sherrill has been recalled by the Seattle Mariners from their AAA affiliate, the Tacoma Rainiers.
Last season with Seattle, Sherrill pitched in 21 games going 2-1 with a 3.80 ERA. He made his first appearance in his second stint with Seattle this season on Sunday going two innings, striking out three Cleveland Indians.
Sherrill is one of three former Frontier League players currently playing in Major League Baseball joining Brendan Donnelly of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and D. J. Carrasco of the Kansas City Royals.
Sherrill went 5-9 with a 4.14 ERA in two seasons with Evansville from 1999-2000. This year at Tacoma, the lefty went 1-3 with a 2.38 ERA and seven saves. He recorded 36 strikeouts in 22.2 innings.
The Otters are currently in the midst of a six game roadtrip and will return to Evansville for a 10 game homestand on August 9th against the Florence Freedom.
