Syracuse Mets News Release

The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to announce the debut of "Money Madness", presented by Pawn King, to be held this Saturday, May 21st when the Chiefs play the Norfolk Tides at 1:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the NBT Bank Stadium gates will receive a sealed envelope with a denomination of cash between $1 and $100. Gates will open at 12 p.m. for the game, just over one hour before the game.

"This promotion is unlike anything we've ever done at the Syracuse Chiefs", said general manager Jason Smorol. "We could have bought $2,500 in T-shirts, but we decided to give the money directly to our fans! You can spend a beautiful day in the ballpark, have a great time with family and friends and get a few bucks to boot."

Money will be given out in denominations of $1, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100. A total of $2,500 will be distributed to fans, courtesy of Pawn King. The first 1,000 fans will be handed an envelope from a Chiefs staffer upon entering the stadium gates.

"We've been kicking this idea around ever since we heard it at Minor League Baseball's promotional seminar", said Smorol. "If it can work in other cities, why not Syracuse?"

Tickets for Saturday's game and all other games on the Chiefs' seven-game homestand can be purchased at syracusechiefs.com, by calling 474-7833 or in person at the NBT Bank Stadium ticket office.
