INDIANAPOLIS - A hotly contested matinee matchup went the way of the visitors in a 5-3 triumph of Columbus over the Indianapolis Indians on Wednesday at Victory Field.

quickly on the board, scoring two in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI double from Jesus Aguilar.

Indianapolis (19-19) answered in the third to tie the game with two runs of its own. Clippers starting pitcher TJ House was responsible for the scores, both unearned due to a throwing error on his part, before being lifted from the game and subsequently ejected as he left the field. Max Moroff and Willy Garcia both recorded RBI knocks.

Toru Murata (3-1) replaced House and brought a steadying presence to the mound in a winning effort. He worked 3.1 shutout innings, striking out five.

After giving up two runs in the first that would result in a losing decision, Tribe starter Frank Duncan (0-1) settled in nicely during his second career start in Triple-A. He did not allow any other runs to cross and struck out seven before he was replaced by Guido Knudson in the sixth.

The Clippers would go on to reclaim the lead that inning, 3-2, on a solo shot from Bryson Myles.

Indians manager Dean Treanor was the second man ejected in the contest after an exchange with officials following Pedro Florimon being called out on a pickoff play at first in the fifth inning.

The Clippers added two more insurance runs in the seventh.

The Indians weren't done battling, as Moroff reached base and eventually scored on a ground ball after moving up on an error by Felipe Paulino in the home half of the seventh. But that would be all for the home club, as the score would remain 5-3.

The series finale is set for Thursday at 11 a.m. back at Victory Field.
