COMSTOCK PARK - Three Quad Cities pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout of the West Michigan Whitecaps Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Ballpark. The Whitecaps lost their fourth consecutive game for the first time since May 19-23, 2005.

Starting Swing pitcher Adam Daniels shut down the Whitecaps for seven innings, allowing just two hits while walking three and striking out a career-high seven batters. Daniels improved to 2-4 on the season and brought his ERA down to 4.03.

The Swing batters jumped on Whitecaps starter Sendy Vasquez early and put up five runs (three earned) in the second inning. The Swing tacked on a sixth run in the third on a Luis Cotto single that scored Bryan Anderson. The six runs allowed by Vasquez are the most this season.

The Whitecaps put two hits up in the first but could not manage another hit until the ninth inning when Justin Justice singled to left field. Justice moved to second on a while pitch and advanced to third on a Mike Hollimon double. Cory Middleton walked to load the bases, but Mark Haske grounded out to the second baseman to end the inning.
