Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

FOX CITIES STADIUM -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers are on their first four-game winning streak after a 9-4 win over the Clinton LumberKings Sunday afternoon. Jeff Flaig had three hits and drove in two runs. Casey Craig added three RBI and Rattler starting pitcher Harold Williams earned his first Midwest League victory.

Clinton (19-37) took their first lead of the series with a run in the first inning. Matt Smith drew a one-out walk, stole second, and went to third on a flyball to right. Freddie Thon's two-out single drove in Smith for a 1-0 lead.

Flaig, in his second game off the disabled list, tied the game with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the second inning.

But, Clinton got back in front with a two-out RBI single by Brian Valichka in the top of the third. That was the last run Williams would allow. The lefty pitched five innings, gave up three hits, walked four, and struck out six.

Wisconsin (23-33) got their first lead of the game in their half of the third. Luis Valbuena singled with one out. Robby Hudson tripled off the wall in leftcenter to knock in Valbuena and even the game 2-2. Craig was next and drove in Hudson with a sacrifice fly to left to give the Rattlers a 3-2 advantage.

Bryan Sabatella lined a one-out homer, his third long ball of the year, in the bottom of the fourth and Wisconsin was up 4-2.

Wisconsin added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth for insurance. Flaig, with his third hit of the day, knocked in his second run of the game on an RBI single. Jairo Hernandez made it 6-2 with an RBI double.

They needed the insurance. Clinton rallied for a pair of runs off Rattler reliever David Asher in the top of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by John Mayberry and a run scoring single by Thon. But, Edgar Guaramato replaced Asher and got out of the inning with the Rattlers up 6-4.

Wisconsin opened up a bigger lead with a three run eighth inning. Hudson singled in the first run of the frame and Craig followed with a two-run double to right.

Joe Woerman pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to extend his scoreless streak to 14-1/3 innings and give the Rattlers their longest winning streak of the season.

The final game of the series is Monday night at Fox Cities Stadium. Jose Escalona (4-5, 3.70) will take the hill for the Rattlers. Clinton has Kyle Rogers (0-4, 4.94ERA) as their scheduled starter.
