Charleston RiverDogs News Release
CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs have hosted their inaugural "Smokin' Chef" series by providing fans with a special smoked dish for every Sunday home game during the 2014 season. For today, Sunday, August 17, Sweat Tea and Whiskey Brined Smoked Wings will be prepared and served from the RiverDogs' new meat smoker in the final installment of the "Smokin' Chef" series. Sunday's game between the RiverDogs and the Rome Braves will start at 5:05 pm at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
The celebrity chef preparing this delicacy is RiverDogs Food and Beverage Director Josh Shea, who also served as the first "Smokin' Chef" back in April. To prepare these smoked wings for fans at today's contest, Shea will toss them in a sweet Memphis rub before smoking them and serving these wings with a variety of BBQ sauces for dipping.
The Sweat Tea and Whiskey Brined Smoked Wings will be served for $7.50 with a plate of six full wings per serving. In addition, the RiverDogs will donate a portion of the proceeds from the smoked item to the Lowcountry Food Bank.
"This promotion has been well received for all of our Sunday home games this season, and it is fun to ask Josh Shea to finish the series that he started," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "These smoked wings sound like another tasty dish for our fans to enjoy, and we are happy to be able to help raise money for the Lowcountry Food Bank at the same time."
The RiverDogs are hosting the Rome Braves tonight at 5:05 pm to close out this homestand at Riley Park. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact the Riley Park Box Office at 843/577-DOGS (3647) or online at www.riverdogs.com. If fans cannot make it to the ballpark, they are encouraged to tune in to all the action this year both home and away worldwide on www.riverdogs.com and locally on 1250 WTMA, the RiverDogs' new radio home.
