The White Sox drafted Tyler Barnette in the 14th round of the June 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of nearby UNC Charlotte. (Ray Marsden/Kannapolis Intimidators) KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 17, 2014) -- The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have promoted RHP Tyler Barnette to Triple-A Charlotte today. There is no corresponding move at this time. Barnette, who pitched in college at nearby UNC Charlotte, is 2-8 with a 5.08 ERA in 25 games (11 starts) with Kannapolis.

The White Sox selected Barnette, 22, in the 14th round of the June 2013 First-Year Player Draft out of UNC Charlotte. During his time with the Charlotte 49ers, Barnette was named Atlantic-10 Freshman of the Year in 2011. He made his professional debut last season with Advanced Rookie Bristol and made the Intimidators opening day roster in 2014. After opening this season in the Kannapolis bullpen, Barnette spent two months in the rotation before returning to a relief role. He has a 1.51 ERA in 14 relief appearances with the Intimidators.

Barnette coming off his first save of the season, retiring all seven batters he faced on Friday in Greensboro. In August, he is 0-1 with a 2.08 ERA in four games.

Kannapolis is in Greensboro today to wrap up a 4-game series against the Grasshoppers at 4:00 p.m. The Intimidators return to CMC-NorthEast Stadium on Tuesday for a 3-game series against Asheville.
