July 1, 2012 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Asheville Tourists News Release
Going into the seventh inning Saturday night, the Asheville Tourists led 6-5 over the Lexington Legends. After Trevor Story singled home a run, the T's loaded the bases for Will Swanner. Asheville's catcher connected with a pitch and drove it over the right field wall for his third Grand Slam of the season.
The blast broke the game open for the Tourists, who had been battling back and forth with the Legends throughout. Asheville's Jose Rivera also went deep in the seventh inning, which ended with seven runs for the T's.
Lexington took an early 2-0 lead but Asheville responded with three runs in the second inning. Brian Humphries and Trevor Story hit back-to-back doubles in the third, making it 4-2.
The Legends plated the next two runs of the contest to draw even, but they committed three errors in the top of the fifth; allowing the Tourists to plate two more.
Chris Jensen went 6.2 innings for his eighth win of the year and the Tourists handed Mike Foltynewicz just his second loss of the season.
Asheville has now worked their way to 3-3 on their current nine-game road trip and will play an afternoon contest on Sunday beginning at 1:35pm. Doug Maurer Broadcast Manager Asheville Tourists 30 Buchanan Place, Asheville, NC 28801 P: (828) 258-0428 x203 F: (828) 258-0320
