Timely Hitting Gives Kannapolis 9-3 Victory

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves fell to the Kannapolis Intimidators 9-3 Sunday evening at State Mutual Stadium.

The Braves got on the board in the third when Tony Mueller bunted a single back to the pitcher and after an errant throw, Mueller made his way to third. Kyle Kubitza would later single home Mueller giving the Braves the 1-0 lead.

In the fifth inning, Kannapolis loaded the bases when Martin Medina and Andrew Douglas singled and DJ Jarrad walked. Keenyn Walker followed with a stand up three run triple he bounced off the right field wall to make the score 4-1.

Kannapolis had another big inning in the sixth when Mark Haddow was hit by a pitch and Grant Buckner doubled him home. Joe DePinto then singled and both Buckner and DePinto would score when Jarrad reached base on a throwing error by Kubtiza. Jarrad was knocked in on a Walker single giving the Intimidators the 8-1 advantage. Rome added runs in sixth and seventh innings but Kannapolis would hold on for the 9-3 win.

Scott Snodgress (3-3) got the victory today after pitching six innings and giving up two runs on four hits. Greg Ross (1-6) received the loss for Rome. Ross was charged with eight of the nine runs scored by Kannapolis in his six innings of work.
