GREENVILLE, SC --Jordan Sims had three assists and Garrett Bartus made 36 saves to lead the Greenville Swamp Rabbits past the Norfolk Admirals 8-2 Thursday Night at Bon Secours Wellness Arena. Taylor Cammarata had both goals for the Admirals.

Greenville jumped out to an early lead thanks to Will Merchant. The Swamp Rabbits were able to keep the puck in on the power play and played the puck along the boards. Jake Bolton found the puck along the left wall and fed the puck to Michael Pelech behind the net. Pelech found Merchant in the right circle, and Merchant beat Reichenbach over the left shoulder to give Greenville an early 1-0 lead at 1:49 of the first period.

Greenville extended their lead on a short-handed goal from Michael Pelech. The Admirals mishandled the puck at the blue line, which allowed Pelech to skate in all alone on a breakaway. Pelech skated into the Norfolk zone between the circles and beat Reichenbach between the legs to give the Swamp Rabbits a 2-0 lead at 3:46 of the first period.

The Swamp Rabbits added another goal from Chad Duschene. Greenville kept the puck in the zone after a long period of pressured zone time. Johno May played the puck from along the left wall, Duschene jumping off the bench found it in the middle of the ice at the point. Duschene shot the puck and beat Reichenbach on the right side to extend Greenville's lead to 3-0.

Greenville would add another goal late in the first period. Trevor Owens played the puck behind the net for Jordan Sims. Sims played the puck from behind the net right to Derek Howe just outside the goalie crease, who shot the puck and beat Reichenbach near side to extend Greenville's lead to 4-0 with 4:05 remaining in the first period.

The Swamp Rabbits extended their lead to five on a power play goal. Jordan Sims from inside the right circle, found Johno May streaking in, and May found the net from in the low slot to extend the Swamp Rabbits lead at 3:23 of the second period.

The Admirals got on the board with a goal from Taylor Cammarata. Chase Harrison found Taylor Cammarata skating into the Greenville zone. Cammarata, using the defender as a screen, shot the puck and beat Garrett Bartus glove side to get Norfolk on the board at 4:33 of the second period.

The Admirals would again get on the board with a second goal by Cammarata. The Admirals were able to keep the puck into the zone after a Greenville turnover. Ben Duffy maneuvered around his defender in the right circle and found the puck along the right wall. Duffy passed the puck from in the corner to Taylor Camarata who had an easy tap in back door behind Bartus for the goal. This cut the lead to 5-2 at 10:01 of the second period.

Greenville would once again extend their lead to four. The Admirals failed to clear the puck out of their zone which allowed the Swamp Rabbits to keep the puck in the Norfolk end. Kevin Miller skated the puck from the point to just outside the right circle into the Norfolk zone. Miller then passed the puck across to Stephen Pierog who buried the puck behind Reichenbach to further the Greenville lead at 16:59 of the second period.

The Swamp Rabbits added an early third period tally from Thomas Ebbing. Chris Izmerlian got the puck behind the net. Izmerlian fed the puck out to Jordan Sims in the right circle, who found Ebbing on a drop pass, and Ebbing blasted the puck past Reichenbach on the right side.

Greenville's Jake Bolton would add a late power play goal for the Swamp Rabbits.

Ty Reichenbach made 27 saves on 35 shots for Norfolk while Garrett Bartus made 36 saves on 38 shots to claim the win for Greenville.
