Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Friday night's contest at AT&T Field proved to be have its share of odd occurrences, including a play that many longtime fans had never before seen. With all the drama and intrigue, the Suns came away with a 5-1 win over the Lookouts.

Jacksonville drew first blood in the first on an Alberto Concepcion Jr double to left, scoring James Tomlin.

With Concepcion Jr now on second and Kevin Howard on third, the ensuing play would prove to be a baseball rarity, which would create a great deal of controversy. With one out, Black Dewitt flied out to left, and Howard tagged-up from third to cross home.

On the throw home, Concepcion Jr attempted to take third, but an errant throw from catcher J.C. Boscan sailed into left field, and Concepcion Jr scored on the play. Starting pitcher Carlos Fisher, suspecting an early departure from Howard from third, threw to third to appeal. His observation proved to be correct, and Howard was ruled out. After the initial ruling determined that the Concepcion run counted, the decision was eventually reversed as to nullify all runs on the play. As determined by Manager Jayhawk Owens and Lookouts in the bottom of the seventh, the game is currently under protest.

The Lookouts would match the Jacksonville run in the second, when a Shaun Cumberland double brought home the speedy Drew Anderson from first.

The Suns would break the tie and take the lead in fourth by putting a four-spot on the board. A three-run homer from Cory Dunlap highlighted the Suns' rally and gave Jacksonville a 5-1 lead. Such would remain the score for the remainder of the game.

The Lookouts and Suns will play the third game of their five-game series, tomorrow at 7:15 P.M. Fireworks will be featured after the game.

Tickets for this upcoming series or any other Lookouts' home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
