As part of a Major League rehab assignment, A.J. Ramos started the game for the Suns and would finish by allowing one run (earned) on two hits with one strikeout in his inning of work.
Jose Urena (W, 7-7) earned the win for the Suns on Monday, surrendering four runs (all earned) on eight hits in six innings of work, while walking a batter and striking out six Smokies.
Matt Ramsey (SV, 2) picked up his eighth save of the year and his second as a member of the Suns by tossing two shutout innings to close out the ballgame, striking out three batters along the way.
P.J. Francescon (L, 8-5) took the loss for Tennessee, allowing one run (earned) on two hits, while walking a pair of batters and striking out three Suns in his three innings.
The Smokies struck first on Monday, as Pin-Chieh Chen came down to score on Jorge Soler's sacrifice fly to give Tennessee a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Jacksonville leveled the score at 1-1 in the top of the third inning when Alfredo Lopez scored on Austin Nola's RBI groundout.
The home team moved back on top by scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth. A Jae-Hoon Ha RBI single and a pinch-hit RBI double from Dustin Geiger put the Smokies up 3-1 after four innings of play.
The Suns took the lead for the first time on Monday with a four-run top of the fifth inning. Jacksonville received a RBI groundout from Austin Nola, a RBI single from Austin Barnes, a RBI double from J.T. Realmuto and a RBI groundout from Wilfredo Gimenez to take a 5-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning.
Tennessee had an immediate response in the bottom of the fifth, as Charlie Cutler's (HR, 3) two-out, two-run inside-the-park home run tied the game at 5-5 after five innings.
Thanks to a little two out magic, Jacksonville regained the lead in the top of the seventh inning. A RBI single from Wilfredo Gimenez put the Suns ahead for good, making it a 6-5 ballgame in the top of the seventh.
The Suns will be off on Tuesday but will be back in Jacksonville to start up a 10-day homestand starting on Wednesday, with first pitch of game one of their series against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos set for 7:05 p.m. ET.
