Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Cincinnati Reds announced a flurry of moves on Monday involving the Blue Wahoos. RHP Mikey O'Brien is returning to Pensacola to start the series finale against Montgomery. Joining him on the way back from Louisville are RHP Fabio Castillo and LHP Fabian Williamson. Additionally, RHP Tim Adleman has been transferred to Louisville.
O'Brien was with the Blue Wahoos for much of the first half of the season. He was 3-3 with a 3.86 ERA over 17 games, nine were starts. He began the season pitching out of the Blue Wahoos bullpen, but was moved to the starting rotation after firing five innings against Jackson on May 4. He struck out four and allowed just one run on three hits and joined the rotation from that point on.
Since last pitching with the Blue Wahoos, O'Brien has pitched in Bakersfield and most recently in Louisville. In his last start, he worked 6.1 innings against Toledo and allowed just one run on five hits.
Williamson and Castillo return to Pensacola after getting sent to Louisville late last week. Each pitcher made one appearance during their time with the Bats. Williamson allowed just a run over two innings, while Castillo worked 2.2 scoreless innings in his outing.
Adleman has appeared in 20 games for the Blue Wahoos this summer since joining the team in mid-April. He is 2-4 with a 3.30 ERA for Pensacola. He has pitched mostly in relief, but has started in each of his last two outings. This will be Adleman's first trip to Triple-A over his professional career, which began in 2010 in the Orioles organization.
The organization also announced the release of RHP Brooks Pinckard. The right-hander was 1-1 with a 6.21 ERA over 22 appearances with Pensacola this season. He was drafted by the Reds in the 10th round in 2011 out of Baylor.
