INF Jonathan Mota Transferred To Tennessee From Triple-A Iowa

KODAK - The Chicago Cubs announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Tennessee Smokies roster prior to tonight's series finale against the Jacksonville Suns at Smokies Stadium.

Infielder Jonathan Mota has been transferred to Tennessee from Triple-A Iowa. In two stints with the I-Cubs this season, the 27-year-old has posted a .237 average (18-76) with ten runs scored, a homer and nine RBI. Through his 35 contests with Tennessee this year, the infielder has accumulated a .232 average (29-125) with five doubles, one home run and six RBI.

Tennessee's active roster stands at 25, and a revised roster is attached.

The Smokies are scheduled to wrap up their five-game set this evening with the Jacksonville Suns, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins at 7:15 p.m. Tennessee is expected to give the ball to LHP Jeffry Antigua (0-1, 2.45), while Jacksonville is anticipated to counter with RHP Jose Urena (6-7, 4.14), who was rated by *Baseball America* as the seventh-best Marlins prospect before this season.
