PEARL, MS - Ryan Harper's wild pitch with two out in the top of the 10th inning allowed Jake Lamb to score the go-ahead from third as the Mobile BayBears (57-36) held off the Mississippi Braves (53-40) with a 8-7 extra-inning win at Trustmark Park Sunday night. The BayBears blew their largest lead of the season in the bottom of the ninth when the Braves scored four runs, sending the game to extras but Mobile wasted no time reclaiming the lead and holding off Mississippi in the bottom of the 10th inning. With the win, the BayBears evened the series at 2-2, setting up for the rubber match up on Monday night.

Mobile and Mississippi combined for 15 runs on 35 hits. The Braves struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Mycal Jones scored on a RBI single from Barrett Kleinknecht putting Mississippi up 1-0. The Braves lead was erased in the top of the fourth inning when Mark Thomas gave Mobile a 2-1 advantage with a two-run home run. The long ball was Thomas's eighth of the season.

Mississippi evened the score again in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kyle Kubitza drove in Kleinkneckt with a RBI double for a 2-2 tie but Mobile would not allow the score to hold long. The BayBears posted two runs in the sixth inning when Gerson Monttila scored on a RBI single from Evan Marzilli and RHP Mike Lee helped his own cause with a RBI single, driving in Mark Thomas.

The BayBears added to their lead with three more runs in the seventh inning and entered the ninth inning up 7-3. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Gustavo Nunez cut the BayBears lead in half with a two run double. After a RBI single from Matt Kennelly, Kleinknecht struck again with a RBI single, completing the four run comeback and tying the game at 7-7.

In the top of the 10th inning Lamb singled and advanced to third on a double from Zach Borenstein. With Thomas batting, two outs and a 2-2 count, RHP Ryan Harper threw a wild pitch to the back stop that allowed Lamb to break from third and score the go-ahead run, putting Mobile up 8-7. RHP R.J. Hively earned his second save of the season for Mobile, holding off Mississippi in the bottom of the 10th and sealing the BayBears victory.

Mobile and Mississippi return to Trustmark Park for series finale on Monday night with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 PM CT. RHP Willy Paredes (4-2, 2.47) will take the hill for the BayBears while the Braves will send RHP Mitch Atkins (4-0, 4.17) to the mound.

The BayBears return home to Hank Aaron Stadium for a five game set with Chattanooga Lookouts July 16-20.
