Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
The Chattanooga Lookouts (11-15) were fighting hard in a tough game, but the Huntsville Stars (12-14) put a five-spot on the board in the seventh inning to take the rain-shortened finale, 7-1 in seven innings.
Before the rain came, t he Stars struck early in the game, putting two runs on the board in the third inning. Other than those two runs, s tarting pitcher Raydel Sanchez was pitching pretty well in the first three innings. In the bottom of the inning Sanchez hit a single in his first at-bat of the game. He was then thrown out at second base by the right fielder for the S tars when Sanchez was attempting to get back to the bag, and had to leave the game with an apparent injury.
Darnell Sweeney was still standing at first, though, and he scored the only Lookouts run of the game when Noel Cuevas doubled down the left field line. The Lookouts didn't make it back onto the board, but the Stars batted through their entire order in the seventh inning and scored five runs before the umpires called the game because of rain.
Lookouts starting pitcher Nick Struck entered the game for Sanchez and allowed three runs in three innings. Starting pitcher Tyson Brummett is scheduled to make Struck's next start on Wednesday.
The Lookouts will be heading all the way down to the Gulf Coast tomorrow to play a five-game series against the Mobile BayBears. Their next home game will be a week from tonight against the Montgomery Biscuits.
