
Stars Claim Rubber Match with Chattanooga

Chattanooga, TN-The Huntsville Stars defeated the Chattanooga Lookouts 7-1 Monday night to claim the rubber match of their five-game series with the Lookouts at AT&T Field. The Stars won three out of five from the Lookouts. The game was called in the top of the seventh with one out due to heavy rain and lightning.
The Stars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning against Lookouts starter Raydel Sanchez(2-6). Josh Prince doubled high off the left center field wall scoring Brent Suter, who also doubled.
Nick Ramirez grounded out to second scoring Prince making it 2-0.
The Lookouts cut the Stars lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the third. Noel Cuevas doubled down the left field line scoring Darnell Sweeney.
The Stars added to their lead in the top of the seventh inning. They recorded four straight hits and it started with Erik Komatsu hammering a leadoff homerun over the right field wall to make it 3-1. It was Komatsu's first longball of the year.
Shea Vucinich then tripled. Yadiel Rivera scored Vucinich on an rbi single to left field. Two batters later Nick Shaw added a two-run single extending the Stars lead to 6-1.
With the bases loaded and one out, Lookouts RHP Juan Gonzalez walked Adam Weisenburger forcing in Shaw making it 7-1 Stars.
The Stars batted around in the seventh. Komatsu came to the plate and was trailing 0-1 in the count with one out, when the game was delayed due to heavy winds and lightning. Heavy rains came down soon thereafter and the game was officially called after a thirty three minute delay.
Brent Suter turned in a quality start for the Stars, his second straight. The left-hander tossed six innings of four hit baseball allowing one unearned run. He also struck out six. Suter, earned the win and improved to 9-6 on the season.
The Stars(11-13, 57-37) will return to Huntsville and have the day off on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Stars will host the Tennessee Smokies, the Double-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs at Joe Davis Stadium. The Stars will have RHP Drew Gagnon(5-4, 3.26) on the mound. Tennessee will feature RHP Matt Loosen(4-3, 5.47). The game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki starting at 6:15 pm CDT on 92.9 FM, 1450 AM and wtkiradio.com.
