Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (September 1, 2015) -Three Suns pitchers combined to shutout the Intimidators, 6-0, on Tuesday at Hagerstown's Municipal Stadium. Kannapolis (28-35-1 Second Half, 63-69-1) saw its four-game winning streak come to an end as the Intimidators were held scoreless for the eighth time this season and fourth time in the last two weeks.
Mario Sanchez (7-5) earned the win with 3 and 1/3 scoreless relief innings after starting pitcher Andrew Lee worked the first 4 and 2/3 frames. Koda Glover struck out the side in the ninth inning to finish the game.
Hagerstown took advantage of a pair of Kannapolis errors in the second inning to plate two runs. Bryan Mejia reached on an error and moved to third on a Matt Reistetter double. Jeff Gardner's sac-fly played Mejia, and a wide throw from right fielder Louie Lechich allowed Reistetter to score for the 2-0 lead.
After adding a run in the third, Austin Davidson smashed a two-run home run (6) in the fourth for a 5-0 lead. Jose Marmolejos added a sac-fly to plate Davidson in the sixth for the 6-0 advantage. Over the last three games, the Suns have scored eight runs on sacrifice flies against Kannapolis.
Zach Thompson (3-7) took the loss, giving up five runs (four earned) over four innings. Brad Salgado allowed a run in two relief innings, and Devon Davis spun two scoreless, hitless frames for Kannapolis.
The Intimidators play their final road game of the 2015 season on Wednesday at 1:05 p.m. against the Suns as RHP Thaddius Lowry (12-7, 4.17 ER) takes the mound against Hagerstown's RHP Erick Fedde (0-2, 5.21 ERA). The Intimidators return to Kannapolis on Thursday for the final five games of the 2015 season against the West Virginia Power.
