Hagerstown Suns News Release
Hagerstown Suns third baseman Nathan Schierholtz has been selected to represent the Suns at the 45th annual South Atlantic League All-Star game. The game will be played on Tuesday June 29th at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park located in Charleston, SC, home of the Charleston RiverDogs.
Schierholtz has been a terror to opposing pitchers this season, ranking among the league leaders in five major offensive categories, including leading the league in extra-base hits with 36. Schierholtz's 15 home runs puts him in a tie for first place in the SAL and his 21 doubles ranks him second. Schierholtz was a 2nd round pick for the San Francisco Giants in 2003.
Schierholtz will be the Suns lone representative on the 2004 SAL All-Star team. The first place Charleston (WV) Alley Cats placed the most players on the Northern Division roster with six.
