
Suns' Offense Stays Red Hot in 15-7 Win over Smokies

KODAK, TN - The Jacksonville Suns (37-25, 73-59) used their scorching hot bats to erase an early five-run deficit and pull away with a 15-7 win over the Tennessee Smokies (32-30, 65-66) on Saturday night from Smokies Park. The Suns now hold a 2-0 series edge.

Jay Rogers did not factor into the decision after surrendering seven runs (all earned) on nine hits with no walks and a pair of strikeouts over five innings of work.
Collin Cargill (W, 5-1) collected his fifth win of the year by retiring all three hitters he faced in a 1-2-3 sixth inning.
Reid Redman struck out one batter over two scoreless innings, only allowing two hits in his relief effort.
Matt Ramsey worked a scoreless bottom of the ninth inning, giving up a lone hit in his outing.
Hunter Cervenka (BS, 4; L, 3-4) blew the save and took the loss after being tagged for seven runs (all earned) on two hits with four walks and a hit batsmen while striking out a pair of Suns in his 0.2 innings.
Tennessee grabbed the early lead on Saturday, as Lars Anderson (HR, 2) drilled a two-out, two-run homer just fair down the right field line to give the Smokies a 2-0 lead after one inning of play.
Jacksonville answered back with a run to cut it to a 2-1 Smokies lead in the top of the second, as Joe Benson scored on Christian Villanueva's throwing error.
The Smokies used more two-out production to extend their lead by scoring four times in the bottom of the second. A Pin-Chieh Chen two-run double and a two-run homer from Albert Almora (HR, 2) put the Smokies ahead 6-1 with two innings complete.
The Suns immediately cut back in to Tennessee's lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third. Austin Barnes and J.T. Realmuto came around to score on Viosergy Rosa's two-out, two-run double to right, making it a 6-3 Tennessee lead with two and a half innings in the books.
Jacksonville continued to chip away with two runs in the top of the fourth. Austin Barnes drilled a two-run double with two outs to cut the lead to one, with the Smokies still holding a 6-5 edge following the completion of the top of the fourth.
Tennessee grabbed a run in the bottom of the fifth on Addison Russell's RBI single to make it a 7-5 Smokies lead after five innings of play.
Austin Nola helped the Suns answer right back in the top of the sixth. Isaac Galloway came in to score on Nola's sacrifice fly, making it a 7-6 Smokies lead with five and a half innings complete.
After the first two Suns struck out to begin the top of the seventh, Jacksonville mounted a furious two-out rally to score five times in the frame. In addition to a bases loaded walk to J.T. Realmuto, the Suns received two-run singles from Isaac Galloway, Austin Nola and Viosergy Rosa in the inning to take a 13-7 lead after six and a half innings.
The Suns were not done, grabbing a pair of runs on J.T. Realmuto's (HR, 8) two-run homer to center in the top of the ninth to make it a 15-7 Jacksonville lead.
The Suns and Smokies will be back at it on Sunday, with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m. ET from Smokies Park. The Suns will start right-hander Jon Link (0-0, 0.00) for his 2014 Suns debut, while the Smokies are yet to announce their starter.
