Jackson Generals News Release

JACKSON, TN - The Generals (27-35/58-73) and Chattanooga Lookouts (30-30/55-74) were close through four innings, but the Lookouts exploded in the middle innings and defeated Jackson 15-4 Saturday. Chattanooga logged 15 runs on 22 hits, the most hits surrendered by the Generals this season in the victory. The Generals remain five games back with eight to play, while the Lookouts are just a game back of the Tennessee Smokies in the division race.

The Lookouts started the scoring in the first inning as Scott Schebler hit a sacrifice fly that brought in Darnell Sweeney with the game's first run. Daniel Mayora followed with another sacrifice fly that scored Angel Sanchez and lead was 2-0 after half an inning.

Chattanooga graced the scoreboard again in the second when Chris O'Brien led off the inning with his fourth home run of the season and first since May 3rd, to extend the lead to 3-0.

Jackson's offense had some success in the fourth as they begin the inning with three consecutive singles, the third from Pat Kivlehan (1x4, RBI) scored Patrick Brady (1x5, R) and the Generals were down just two at 3-1.

From there the Lookouts took complete control. In the fifth inning Chattanooga scored four runs on four hits, all against starter Cam Hobson (8-10, 4.35 ERA) to increase their lead to 7-1. In the sixth, things got worse for Jackson as five more runs crossed the plate for the Lookouts as they sent 11 batters to the plate and the lead grew to 12-1.

Chattanooga's offense was not quite done and they plated another three runs in the seventh on three more hits. Eight batters came to the plate in the inning and the lead grew to 15-1.

Jackson showed some resiliency as Dan Paolini (1x3, 2 R, BB) doubled with one out in the seventh and came around to score on a base hit from Brock Hebert (1x4, 2 RBI) to make the score 15-2.

With one out in the eighth D.J. Peterson (1x2, R, 2 BB) walked, moved to second a wild pitch, and scored when Jordy Lara (0x4) reached on an error. The Generals added one more run in the ninth when Hebert earned another RBI with a groundout that scored Paolini for the 15-4 final score.

Nick Struck (5-6, 5.22) earned the win with a nice performance on the mound. The right-hander went 6.0 innings and allowed only one run on a very hot, muggy night in West Tennessee. Cam Hobson (8-10, 4.35) took the loss for Jackson as he allowed 10 runs on 12 hits in 5.1 innings.

The Generals attempt to get back on the winning track Sunday against the Lookouts. Lefty Tyler Olson (8-7, 3.78) will make the start for Jackson as Chattanooga will send Matt Schelton (4-3, 4.06) to the mound. Sunday is Family Fun Day Sunday and Season Ticket holder picnic and batting practice. The game will begin at 2:05 p.m. and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN, TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
