Suns finish road trip 9-1 with final game win at Montgomery

Montgomery, Ala. - It was par for the course for the Jacksonville Suns Thursday night as the South Division leaders used strong, steady pitching and a healthy dose of offense to put away the Montomery Biscuits by the final score of 5-1 at Riverwalk Stadium.

The win propelled the Suns to 4.5 games ahead of Montgomery in the South Division race with 15 games to go. The Jacksonville magic number to clinch is 11 games. The Suns finished the ten-game road trip to Huntsville and Montgomery with a 9-1 record.

Jacksonville trailed in the second inning as Montgomery's Jason Pridie drove home Gabriel Martinez to open up a 1-0 Biscuits lead.

From then on, it was all Jacksonville as Suns first baseman Craig Brazell tied the game in the fourth inning with an RBI double that scored Chin-Lung Hu.

Suns left-fielder Tydus Meadows gave Jacksonville the lead for good in the seventh inning as he belted a leadoff homerun, his second homer in as many nights, extending the lead to 2-1.

Tony Abreu drove home another Jacksonville run in the eighth with a single to increase the lead to 3-1.

Brazell continued his hitting ways and put an exclamation point on the win with a two-run double in the ninth to finish the scoring at 5-1.

Spike Lundberg improved to 6-1 with a seven inning outing, allowing only one unearned run on five hits. The veteran did not allow a walk while striking out a season-high nine batters. Brian Henderson fell to 1-1 in the relief loss. Casey Hoorelbeke saved his fifth game of the season.
