Huntsville, AL (May 31st)- The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx extended the Huntsville Stars losing streak to a franchise record thirteen games by sweeping the Stars in a twinbill at Joe Davis Stadium. The Diamond Jaxx won the first game 10-6 in eight innings and took the nightcap 5-2.

In the opener, the Diamond Jaxx scored four runs off Russ Rohlicek (0-2) in the eighth inning to upend Huntsville 10-6. Nic Jackson drove in the first run and scored the third run in the four run inning. Eric Patterson and Richard Lewis drove in the other runs. Lewis finished the night with three hits, including a homer and four RBI's. Chris Walker had four hits and two runs scored in the win. Carmen Pignatiello (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings out of the bullpen to pick up the victory. Drew Anderson and Ozzie Chavez had three hits each to pace the Stars offense.

In the nightcap, Gary Cates had two hits and two RBI's while Jackson and Adam Greenberg chipped in with two hits each to lift the Diamond Jaxx to the sweep of the doubleheader. The Diamond Jaxx broke a 1-1 tie with four runs off losing pitcher Carlos Villanueva (4-4). Carlos Vasquez pitched two innings out of the bullpen to pick up his first career win in Double-A ball. Vasquez (1-0) allowed a run on three hits with five strikeouts in his two innings of work. Brad Nelson and Ron Acuna had two hits each while Drew Anderson homered to lead the Huntsville offense.

The sweep of the doubleheader, coupled with a loss by Chattanooga to the Mississippi Braves, has pulled the Diamond Jaxx to within a game of the Lookouts with sixteen games left in the first half schedule.

The final game of the five game series takes place on Thursday night at 7:05 CDT. Right-hander Randy Wells (2-2 1.31) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. Huntsville will counter with lefty Jeff Housman (1-1 2.77).
