Suns Explode in 12-4 Rout of Generals

JACKSON, TN - In an absolutely clinical offensive performance, the Jacksonville Suns (35-34) erupted for a season-high 12 runs on 16 hits to defeat the Jackson Generals (31-37) 12-4 on Saturday night from The Ballpark at Jackson.

Justin Nicolino (W, 6-2) earned the win after allowing three runs (all earned) on seven hits in six innings of work, while not issuing a walk and striking out one General.

Collin Cargill allowed one run (earned) on two hits with one strikeout in two innings of relief work, with Jheyson Manzueta striking out the side in a scoreless ninth inning where he'd allow a lone hit.

Stephen Landazuri (L, 3-2) was hit hard in his first game off the Disabled List in a month and a half, allowing seven runs (all earned) on six hits in 1.2 innings as he was dealt the loss.

The Suns use a four-run first, a three-run second and a three-run fourth to open up a 10-1 lead after the first four innings of play.

Brent Keys, Joe Benson, Brady Shoemaker and Alex Burg each had three-hit nights in the win for Jacksonville, with Benson and Shoemaker both collecting 3 RBI apiece.

The Suns and Generals will be back at it on Sunday night, with first pitch of the finale of the five-game series being set for 2:05 p.m. CT (3:05 p.m. ET). The Suns are set to throw out right-hander Jay Rogers (1-2, 5.60) while the Generals will counter with a right-hander of their own in Trevor Miller (4-6, 4.91).
