
Suns even series with Monday win

Jacksonville, Fla. - In a back-and-forth affair, the Jacksonville Suns (77-57, 42-22) outlasted the Chattanooga Lookouts (63-70, 33-31) with a final score of 5-4 in front of 2,604 Monday night at th e Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Suns reliever Levale Speigner (2-1) picked up the victory, dealing one and one-thirds scoreless innings. Lookouts starter Travis Chick (7-7) fell in the loss, allowing four runs and six hits with five walks and seven strikeouts. Matt Peterson (33) saved the game, giving up an unearned run in the ninth inning.
Chattanooga's James Tomlin opened the scoring on the second pitch of the game, belting a leadoff homerun for a 1-0 score. Jacksonville tied the game in the second inning when Kevin Randel scored on a groundout by pitcher Jarrett Santos for a 1-1 game.
The Lookouts gained the lead again in the third inning as Trayvon Robinson tripled and scored on an Andrew Lambo groundout for a 2-1 score. Jacksonville snatched the lead back in the bottom of the inning, scoring on a Mike Stanton RBI double and Brad Davis two-out, RBI single for a 3-2 lead.
Chattanooga tied the game again in the fifth inning as Eddy Perez singled with two out to knock home Lambo for a 3-3 score.
Jacksonville took another one-run lead in the fifth inning when Scott Cousins walked, moved to second base on a Ryan Klosterman walk, stole third base and scored on a wild pitch for a 4-3 lead.
The Suns extended the lead to 5-3 in the eighth inning as Kevin Randel blasted a first pitch homerun off Lookouts reliever Matt Sartor for a 5-3 lead.
Chattanooga finished the scoring in the ninth inning as Russ Mitchell scored on a Vinny Rottino fly ball to right field that was dropped by Mike Stanton. With two out, Trayvon Robinson singled to centerfield, but Rottino was thrown out at home by centerfielder Scott Cousins for the final out of the game.
