Ciriaco named to Postseason All-Star Team

MOBILE, Ala. - With Monday's announcement of the 2009 Southern League Postseason All-Stars, the BayBears' Pedro Ciriaco was the squad's lone representative as the league's top shortstop.

Ciriaco, 23, is the only BayBears' position player on the Arizona Diamondbacks' 40-man roster and is in his first season with the BayBears. Ciriaco leads the ball club with a .307 average and is among the league leaders with 37 stolen bases.

Named as the Best Defensive Infielder in the D-backs' system by Baseball America this past off-season, Ciriaco has shown his prowess with the leather on several occasions this year while also driving in 49 runs and pacing the BayBears with 135 hits which is also among the league leaders.

Ciriaco is one of two current BayBears, along with pitcher Bryan Augenstein, who will participate in the Arizona Fall League in 2009 as a member of the Scottsdale Scorpions.
