Knoxville Smokies News Release

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - In the event of a tie for the Southern League North Division second-half title after the regular season concludes next Monday, the Southern League held a series of coin flips on Monday with the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, Chattanooga Lookouts and Tennessee Smokies to determine which team would host a play-in game amongst different scenarios in the standings.

Should the Smokies tie for the second-half crown with West Tenn, the play-in game would be held at West Tenn's Pringles Park in Jackson, Tenn. next Tuesday, September 8. If the Smokies find themselves tied with Chattanooga at the end of the regular season, they would host the Lookouts in a play-in game on the 8th at Smokies Park.

In the event West Tenn and Chattanooga tie for the second-half title, the play-in game would be played in Chattanooga on the 8th.

Both the Smokies and Diamond Jaxx are tied in the Southern League North Division, with the Lookouts only one game back. Seven games remain for each team in the 2009 regular season.

Following the conclusion of this week's series with the Mobile BayBears, the Smokies head to Jackson to take on West Tenn in a crucial five-game series starting on Thursday. Game coverage can be heard on the Smokies Radio Network via the team's Web site at www.smokiesbaseball.com and/or on The Sports Animal 99.1 & 99.3 FM, and AM 990.
