Triunfel returns from DL, Villarreal placed on DL

PEARL, MISS. (AUGUST 31, 2009) - The Seattle Mariners have announced the following roster moves affecting the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx prior to tonight's game four against the Mississippi Braves.

INF Carlos Triunfel was injured on April 10th, during the Diamond Jaxx second game of the season and was placed on the DL on April 11th . It was determined that Triunfel had a fractured left tibia. Triunfel rehabbed in four games for the AZL Mariners (Rookie) and went 4x16 (.250 AVG) with a double and four RBI. Triunfel came into 2009 as the Mariners #4 overall prospect and top infield prospect. In the first two games of the season, Triunfel was 2x6 (.333 AVG) with a double and two RBI.

LHP Luis Villarreal has been placed on the 7-Day DL on Monday. Villarreal has appeared in five games for the Jaxx and is 0-1 with a 10.13 ERA. In Villarreal's last outing he gave up two runs in an inning of working against the Braves.
