
Suns Drop Series Finale to BlueClaws 6-3

The Hagerstown Suns (32-34) lost a tough one to the Lakewood BlueClaws (29-27) in the series finale 6-3 on Friday evening.
Lakewood started off swinging the bats in the top of the fourth with Jonathan Villar on first after a fielding error, Leandro Castro hit a homer to left field putting the BlueClaws in the lead 2-0.
After a Suns pitching change in the seventh, Lakewoods Jeremy Barnes scored after Alan Schoenberger hit a triple to center.
The BlueClaws momentum kept going as Jonathan Singleton and Sebastian both hit home runs making the score 5-0.
Hagerstown answered back with a walk by JR Higley and a single from Sandy Leon putting them both in perfect scoring position. After a pitching change by Lakewood, JP Ramirez hit a double scoring Higley. Bringing in Leon was a single by Eury Perez. With Jeff Kobernus batting, JP Ramirez scored on a balk cutting the Lakewood lead 5-3.
Lakewood kept going with a home run by Anthony Hewitt top of the ninth to make the final score 6-3.
Hagerstown starting pitcher Trevor Holder (4-3) took the loss of the evening but had a stellar performance with nine strikeouts and only giving up two runs in six innings.
The starting pitcher for the BlueClaws Matthew Way (4-4) got the win pitching seven and a third innings giving up three hits and two runs. Jordan Ellis got the save coming in the bottom of the ninth with three strikeouts.
The Suns will now travel to Salisbury, MD to take on the Orioles-affiliated Delmarva Shorebirds in a four-game series at Perdue Stadium.
Hagerstown will return to Municipal Stadium on Thursday, June 10 with a 7:05 p.m. game against the Riverdogs.
