Braves Earn Series Split

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Augusta Green Jackets 5-3 in front of 3,349 fans Friday night at State Mutual Stadium. The Braves were 4-4 on the home stand, splitting four game sets with Augusta and Savannah.

Rome took the lead in the first inning on a Robert Hefflinger double to plate Kyle Rose. The Green Jackets tied the game at 1-1 in the second on a Luke Anders (8) homerun to right.

A fourth inning leadoff solo home run from Mycal Jones (5) gave the Braves back their lead. Rome would add another run in the fifth to extend their lead to 3-1 when Jace Whitmer scored on a fielder's choice.

The Green Jackets battled back with a run in the sixth to cut the lead to 3-2 on a Luke Anders RBI single and they would tie the game at 3-3 in the eighth inning on a double play ground out by Anders.

Rome took the lead for good in the bottom of the eighth when Rose scored on a sacrifice fly followed by a Jordan Kreke single to plate Cory Harrilchak for the 5-3 final.

David Hale (1-5) picks up his first win for Rome while Augusta's Hector Correa (1-1) gets the loss.
