Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

The Greenville Drive are back to .500 and the Kannapolis Intimidators are back below the mark as the Drive erase another early deficit to beat the Intimidators by the score of 6-4.

The Intimidators (27-28) shot out to their second straight 2-0 advantage with single runs in the first and second innings off starter Yeiper Castillo. Daniel Wagner led the ballgame off with a double and scored as a pick off attempt went into center field. Wagner scored from second on the error as the Intimidators led 1-0 after one.

In the second inning, both Brady Shoemaker and Jordan Cheatham doubled off Castillo to make it 2-0, but Castillo (4-3) would settle down, firing six innings, and only allowing those two runs.

In the top of the third inning Serafin ran into a ton of trouble. Reynaldo Rodriguez led the inning off with his third home run of the season, and eight more hits later, the Drive (28-28) put up six runs in the third as they batted 11. Jeremy Hazelbaker hit a two-run double, and seven singles were also hit in the inning. This would be the only inning the Drive would score in, but it would be enough. Serafin (5-3) exited the game after 4.1 innings, allowing 12 hits and six runs. He left with the bases loaded in the fifth but Garrett Johnson rolled a double play to keep the game close.

In the seventh inning, Ian Gac hit his 11th home run of the season, a solo shot to right center and the Intimidators worked an extra run across in the ninth but it was not enough. Dennis Neuman picked up the save in the 6-4 win. The Intimidators went 3-4 in their homestand and will now travel to Savannah for four games before returning home on the 10th against Asheville. The game on Saturday will be at 6:05 in Savannah and Andre Rienzo will look for his first win against Armando Rodriguez.
