Hagerstown Suns News Release
Greensboro, NC - The Hagerstown Suns (56-33) rallied from down 3-0 and being no-hit through six innings to upend the Greensboro Grasshoppers (52-38), 4-3, at NewBridge Bank Park on Wednesday night.
Third baseman Justin Miller went 1-for-2 with a double and the game winning RBI sacrifice-fly in the eighth inning. Miller, who has both winning RBIs in the series offensively, also turned a 5-3 double play with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning to keep Hagerstown ahead. Bryce Ortega and Sam Palace each drove in a run in the suns come-from-behind effort.
Suns starting pitcher Kylin Turnbull kept the Suns within reach, pitching six innings and allowing three runs on seven hits in a no-decision. Colin Bates (4-2) was credited with the win, pitching two scoreless innings out of the bullpen. Aaron Barrett nailed down his league-leading 16th save, pitching a perfect ninth inning to extend the Suns winning streak to seven games.
Grasshoppers' starter Charlie Lowell also did not factor in the decision, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks. Lowell had his no-hitter broken up on Steven Souza, Jr.'s single to lead off the seventh inning. Second baseman Ryan Goetz went 0-for-4 but still managed two RBIs on a ground out and sacrifice-fly.
The Suns and Grasshoppers will play game three of the series on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. when RHP Taylor Hill (9-4, 4.72) takes the mound against Greensboro's RHP Jose Urena (5-4, 2.96).
