
Suns Blank Jaxx for Fourth Straight Win

Jacksonville, Fla. - Sean West pitched six dominant innings in his second start, while the Jacksonville Suns (5-2) scattered three runs in a 3-0 Wednesday afternoon victory over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (4-3) in front of 3,618 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
West (1-1) pitched six scoreless innings for the victory, allowing two hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in his second Double-A outing. The six-foot-eight southpaw dealt 87 pitches with 55 strikes while continuing Jacksonville's starting pitching streak of seven consecutive six-inning performances.
Ricky Orta (0-1) fell in the loss for West Tenn after allowing two runs and five hits over four innings. The former Miami Hurricane walked four with six strikeouts.
Chris Leroux (1) saved the game for Jacksonville, allowing only a ninth inning single in his lone inning of work.
Jacksonville opened the scoring against Orta in the first inning as Lorenzo Scott crossed home on a Matt Craig double play ground ball for a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, following a Kevin Randel leadoff walk, Chris de la Cruz tripled down the right field line to score Randel from first base for a 2-0 advantage.
Jacksonville's final run came in the sixth inning on a Ryan Klosterman sacrifice fly to left, scoring de la Cruz for a 3-0 lead.
West Tenn's best scoring opportunity came in the eighth inning, when the bases were loaded with two out. Suns reliever Jeff Gogal struck out Johan Limonta to end the threat.
Jacksonville RH Willie Glen will face West Tenn RH Kyle Parker Thursday at 7:05 p.m. in game three of the series at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
