
Jaxx shutout by Suns 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon

Jacksonville, Fla. (April 15, 2009) - The Diamond Jaxx drop game two of this five game series in front of 3,618 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, 3-0. The Jaxx are shutout for the first time in 2009.
The Suns jumped on the board in the bottom of the first getting a leadoff double to right-center off the bat of Lorenzo Scott. Ryan Klosterman would reach on a bunt single to put runners on the corners with nobody out. Matt Craig would ground into a double play that scored Scott from third. Jacksonville led 1-0 after one.
After a leadoff walk in the bottom of the fourth to Kevin Randel, Chris De La Cruz ripped a Ricky Orta fastball down the right field line for an RBI triple. Orta would retire the next three in a row to escape with no more damage done.
Orta (0-1) would pitch four innings, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out six and walking four.
Mariners first round pick in 2008 (20th overall), Josh Fields would make his third appearance of the season and toss one, two, three bottom of the fifth inning. He only fired nine pitches and struck out one Suns hitter.
Jacksonville starter, Sean West (2-0) was brilliant on Wednesday afternoon dealing six shutout innings. West struck out nine in the game and walked only two.
The Suns add a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the bases loaded and one out Ryan Klosterman hit sacrifice fly to left to bring in Chris De La Cruz from third.
Chris Leroux would come on in the ninth and get the save for the Suns, his first of the season.
Of note in the game, Jaxx outfielder, Ezequiel Carrera has reached base in each of the seven games this season. Carrera is hitting .345 on the year, with an OBP of .433. Also, RHP Patrick Ryan (0-0, 13.50) will get the start on Saturday night in place of injured Jaxx pitcher, Luis Pena.
Game three of the five game series comes up Thursday night at 6:05 CDT. Getting the ball for the Jaxx in game three will be RHP Kyle Parker (0-0, 0.00), making his second start of 2009. He will be opposed by Suns veteran RHP Willie Glen (0-1, 4.50).
