Hagerstown Suns News Release

Lexington, KY: After seven games against Hagerstown, Lexington has hit 11 homeruns and has an excellent 3.10 ERA, yet they now trail 4-3 in the season series after the Suns 7-5 win on Sunday. Five batters had multihit games for Hagerstown in the 13 hit effort.

Ambiorix Concepcion and Derran Watts each went 3-3 in the game, with Concepcion also reaching on two walks, and Watts adding an RBI sacrifice fly. Watts now has 10 multihit games and 29 RBI's in 31 games this season. Concepcion scored twice, swiped two bases, and hit his seventh homerun of the year in the seventh inning off starter, and loser Ronnie Martinez (3-3).

Mike Carp, 14th homer, went back to back with Concepcion in the seventh, chasing Martinez, and giving the Suns a 7-3 lead at the time. Carp is now 5-13 with 2HR, and 3R, in his last five games, ending a 3-53 slump. Carlos Gomez and Grant Psomas each had multihit games as well.

Blake Eager (4-3) earned his fourth win of the year with a gutty performance. Eager went five innings and yielded three runs on seven hits, however that wasn't the lasting image from this game. The two teams combined to turn seven double plays, and it was Eager who induced two of them. With the bases loaded and one out in the first and fifth innings, Eager got double plays by his infield to get out of both innings.

Marcelo Perez pitched pitched two scoreless, and Matt Miramontes added a scoreless eighth. Carlos Muniz gave up a two run homerun with two outs in the ninth, but got Ben Zobrist to ground out to Mike Carp to end the game, with the league leader in homeruns, Hunter Pence on deck. Pence, who has four homers in seven games against Hagerstown, leads the league with 21 round trippers.

Hagerstown (36-21) sends Jeff Landing to the mound to face Lexington's (34-23) RHP Juan Gutierrez at 7:05pm in the finale on Monday night. The Suns come back home on Old Time Tuesday, June 7th, to face Lake County in the first of a four game homestand. For tickets call 301-791-6266.
