Lexington Legends News Release
The Hagerstown defeated the Legends 7-5, Sunday evening. The story line was missed opportunities for the Legends. They loaded the bases twice with less than two outs and failed to score.
The loss drops the Legends to two games behind the Suns with one game left in the four game series.
Ronnie Martinez (3-3) lost his third game of the year. Martinez was shelled for seven runs in seven innings of work. Blake Eager (4-3) weathered five innings to secure his fourth win of the season for Hagerstown.
Hunter Pence continued his torrid pace with another home run. Pence belted a solo home run, his 21st, to left centerfield in the third inning. The twenty-one homers top Minor League Baseball.
Frankie Caraballo also homered. The Legends rightfielder connected on a solo shot in the fourth inning. Jonny Ash added his eighth, a two-run shot, in the ninth inning.
The Legends and Suns will wrap up the four game series on Monday night. Lexington will send Juan Gutierrez to the hill. Gutierrez is 2-2 with a 2.53 ERA. The Suns will counter with right-hander Jeff Landing (5-3, 3.81). First pitch is set for 7:05. The Progressive Direct pre-game show will kick off Legends network coverage at 6:50.
