
Sugar Land Trumps Camden 9-3 in Series Finale

After taking an early 8-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Sugar Land trumped Camden 9-3 in the final game of the series. The second-straight win today gives the Skeeters an 8-2 advantage over the Riversharks so far this season and a 48-41 record overall. Every offensive player recorded a hit for the Skeeters today and the team recorded a season-high 16 hits in the outing.
Steve Hammond (6.0,7,3,3,1,6) started on the mound for Sugar Land this morning. The left-hander tossed 6.0 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts. Hammond received his 7th win of the season with the victory over Camden today, giving him a 7-6 record in 2014.
With one out in the top of the first, third baseman Chase Lambin (3x5, R, RBI) hit adoubled before left fielder Ryan Langerhans (3x5, 2 R, 3 RBI) came to the plate. A pass ball from the Rivershark catcher put Lambin onthird before Langerhans ripped atriple to the outfield wall, which brought in Lambin for the first run of the game. First baseman Delwyn Young (3x5, 3 RBI) hit a single to left field the following batter to allow Langerhans to score and give the Skeeters a 2-0 lead early.
Right fielder Brian Barton (1x4, R) was given a free pass to first to lead off the top of the second before being advanced to third on a single to right field from designated hitter Nick Stavinoha(1x4, R). Second baseman Michael Rockett (1x4, 2 R) hit into a fielder's choice situation, but was able to reach first as Barton crossed home plate after the Camden second baseman committed an error. Center fielder Adam Godwin (1x5, R) singled to right field to put runners on every bag. Langerhans then lined a double to right field that would score Stavinoha and Rockett to give Sugar Land two more runs. Young roped a line drive to center field to bring in Godwin and Langerhans for runs four and five of the inning, but was thrown out trying to reach second.
Catcher Travis Scott (1x5, R) and Barton led off the top of the third inning with singles to put runners on first and second with no outs. Two batters later, shortstop Dominic Ramos (2x4, RBI) singled to center field to put Barton on second and allowed Scott to score to give the Skeeters a commanding 8-0 lead heading into the bottom of the inning.
Rockett started the top of the sixth with a double deep to the outfield and was brought home by a single to right field from Lambin, which increased the Skeeters run total to nine.
Ramon Delgado (2.0,0,0,0,0,1) entered in the seventh in relief for Hammond. The righty threw 2.0 shutout innings and collected onestrikeout before the end of his frame. Jared Wells (1.0,0,0,0,2,1) pitched the final inning tonight and also did notallow a run or a hit with one strikeout during his time on the hill.

Homeward Bound:
The Skeeters return home tomorrow night to start a six-game series against Bridgeport. Game 1 is set to start at 6:05 p.m. CT. at Constellation Field. David Pauley (6-6, 3.00 ERA) will start on the mound for Sugar Land and looks to help the team extend their win streak to three-straight.
