York Revolution News Release

The York Revolution were victimized by a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, dropping their series finale to the Lancaster Barnstormers 3-2 on Tuesday night in front of 4,285 fans at Clipper Magazine Stadium. The Revs conclude their road trip having won two of three at both Somerset and Lancaster, and will return home tied for first place in the second half when they host the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in the first of a three-game series on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.

York plated the game's first run in the top of the first inning. League batting average leader Justin Greene led off with an infield single off the leg of Lancaster starter Chris Schwinden. Wilson Valdez moved Greene along with a sacrifice bunt, and with two outs, Chad Tracy roped an RBI double to left-center, scoring Greene to give York a 1-0 lead.

The Barnstormers gave York starter Logan Williamson a rough first inning, answering to tie the score. With one out, Cole Garner singled and Brett Carroll walked to load the bases, and another walk to Ben Francisco forced in a run, tying the game at 1-1. Williamson would quickly recover, retiring 17 of 18 batters into the seventh inning.

With the game still deadlocked, Gabe Jacobo reached on a ground ball mishandled by Valdez at shortstop to start the bottom of the seventh. With one out, Lance Zawadski singled to left field, putting runners at first and second. Both Barnstormer base runners took off on a full count offering to Juan Apodaca, avoiding a potential inning-ending double play on a groundout to third base. The move paid off, as with two outs, Yusuke Kajimoto served a flare into left for a two-run single, giving Lancaster the 3-1 lead with two unearned runs.

The Revs rallied for a run in the ninth against closer Jason Urquidez. Alberto Espinosa was hit by a pitch with one out, and with two outs, Valdez singled to left field. Eric Patterson followed with a bloop single to left, scoring pinch-runner Sean Smith to make it a one-run game. Urquidez would rebound to retire Tracy on a fly ball to left, however, preserving the win for Lancaster, picking up his 15th save in the process.

Lancaster reliever Pete Andrelczyk (3-5) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief of Schwinden, who scattered seven hits and allowed just one run over six innings of work.

Williamson (3-4) suffered the hard-luck loss for the Revs, giving up three runs (one earned) on only four hits while tying his season-high with seven innings pitched. The lefty surrendered a pair of hits in his first and final innings, while allowing no base hits in between.

The Revs out-hit the Barnstormers 10-4 in the loss. Patterson went 3-for-5 extending his hitting streak to six consecutive games. Tracy was 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles, and Ofilio Castro (2-for-4) enjoyed a multi-hit night.

Greene's first inning single extended his hitting streak to eight consecutive games, as he has now hit safely in 17 of his last 18 contests.

The Revs drop to 10-6 against the Barnstormers in the War of the Roses series, having already retained the Community Cup by clinching at least a tie in the season series after winning outright last season.

York returns home to host the Blue Crabs on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Revs righty Scott Gorgen (3-7, 6.96) will make the start. It is German Heritage Night at Santander Stadium. Tickets are on-sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
