
Sugar Land Takes Second Straight Win with 3-1 Victory over York

Sugar Land scored an early run in the top of the first to take the lead over York. The Skeeters were able to score again in the sixthinning to take the lead 3-1 after the Revolution tied up the game in the fourth. Sugar Land was able to maintain this lead and take down York in the second game of the series, improving to a 7-3 record against the host team in the 2014 season.
Clint Everts (7.0,6,1,1,2,5) started on the mound for Sugar Land and pitched for 7.0 innings. He allowed six hits and one run with five strikeouts and two walksduring his frame before being replaced by Corcoran in the eighth. Everts gained hisfifth win of the season after beating York today, giving him a 5-8 record overall this season.
In the top of the first inning, center fielder Brian Barton (1x5) made it to first base after drilling a single to center field. Second baseman Delwyn Young (1x4) followed up with a double to center field, which allowed Barton to make his way home and score the first run of the game.
With one out in the top of the sixth inning, catcher Travis Scott (1x3) was walked to first. First baseman Nick Stavinoha (2x4) then sent the ball over the fence allowing the Skeeters to take back the lead after being tied. His home run tonight marked Stavinoha's second of the series and 13th overall this season.
Roy Corcoran (1.0,0,0,0,0,2) entered the game to start the eighth in relief for Everts and pitched 1.0 inning without allowing a hit or run with two strikeouts and no walks. Gary Majewski (1.0,0,0,0,0,0) came in at the bottom of the ninth and was able to keep Sugar Land's lead without allowing any hits or runs.

After the win tonight, the Skeeters attempt to take down the Revolution for a third night in a row in Game 3 tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. CT. at Santander Stadium. Matt Wright (7-7, 3.42 ERA) will start for Sugar Land and looks to lead the team to their sixth-straight victory.
