Bridgeport Shutout by Barnstormers

(Bridgeport, CT. - August 7, 2014) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (12-17, 34-65) were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers (15-13, 54-44), 5-0 on Thursday night in game two of a three-game series at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.

The Barnstormers scored the first two runs of the game after a sacrifice fly to center field by Brett Carroll and an RBI single by Gabe Jacobo. Lancaster would then add two runs in the top of the third inning when Carroll had an RBI fielder's choice, but reached on an error by shortstop Mike Richard and Jacobo had another RBI single. After Brock Kjeldgaard tripled in the top of the sixth inning he then scored on a sacrifice fly by Juan Apodaca.

Bridgeport starting pitcher Matt Iannazzo (3-5) suffered the loss going six innings allowing five runs (three earned), seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Bluefish reliever Kyle McMillen pitched three scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Lancaster starting pitcher Dan Osterbrock (8-3) picked up the win going eight innings allowing no runs while scattering eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

For the Bluefish, eight different players all had hits.

The Bluefish and Lancaster will play the final game of their three game series tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
